How It All Started

Yama Meerzada, the owner and co-founder of Teleclinic LLC, was inspired to address the critical need for reliable medical transportation through a deeply personal experience—caring for his father. He was the one who accompanied him to every appointment, making sure he arrived safely, on time, and with dignity. Through this experience, Yama came to understand a vital truth: access to healthcare doesn’t begin at the clinic—it begins with the journey there.

He also recognized that while he was able to support his father, many others in the community lacked that same help, often missing essential care simply because they couldn’t get there. That realization ignited a calling, ultimately leading him to establish Teleclinic LLC—a company founded on the principle that every patient deserves to receive care with professionalism, respect, and dignity.

In the early days, Yama drove the patients himself. Each ride reflected his values. Whether assisting someone into a wheelchair van or securing a patient on a stretcher, he handled each case with personal care. That hands-on experience shaped Teleclinic’s culture—every patient is treated like family.

The need for reliable non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) is far greater than many realize. According to national studies, approximately 5.8 million Americans delay or miss medical care each year because they lack access to transportation. Despite advancements in healthcare, this remains one of the most under-recognized barriers to care—especially for seniors, patients with disabilities, and individuals from underserved communities.

Even in a region as developed as Southern California, these challenges persist. A recent CDC data brief revealed that nearly 6% of adults in the U.S. report difficulty accessing transportation for daily activities, including essential medical care. In cities like San Diego, where public transportation is limited in certain neighborhoods, these numbers represent real people—neighbors, grandparents, and friends—who are going without the care they need simply because they can't get to a doctor’s office.

At Teleclinic LLC, we’ve committed ourselves to solving this problem. We provide safe, ADA-compliant wheelchair vans, stretcher/gurney vans staffed with trained personnel, and ambulatory transportation services across San Diego County. Our drivers are not only certified in BLS, CPR/AED, and PASS Basic, but they are also trained in compassionate care—because transportation is more than logistics; it's about people.

Teleclinic is more than a company—it’s a mission born from personal experience. Yama began this journey caring for someone he loved, and today, he and his team are here to do the same for others. If you or someone you know needs help getting to a medical appointment, we’re here for you.
